On Thursday, February 2, CreagerCole attended the world premiere screening of the National Geographic documentary, Gender Revolution: A Journey With Katie Couric. The film explored “the complexities of gender in everyday life, from the moment we are born through our twilight years. To better understand this complex social and scientific issue, Couric crisscrossed the U.S. to talk with scientists, psychologists, activists, authors and families to learn more about the role of genetics, brain chemistry and modern culture on gender fluidity.”
Two of CreagerCole’s clients took part in the event, Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF) and supermodel, Hanne Gaby Odiele, who recently announced publicly that she is intersex. TLDEF’s Executive Director Jillian Weiss shared insights about the legal landscape for transgender people during a panel discussion following the screening. Hanne Gaby Odiele joined advocates from interACT Advocates for Intersex Youth, including Executive Director Kimberly Zieselman, Youth Coordinator Emily Quinn, and interACT Board President Georgiann Davis. Davis is featured prominently in the documentary, explaining what’s at stake for intersex human rights.
To top off a phenomenal evening, the CreagerCole team was fortunate enough to meet Katie Couric at the after-party and thank her for this groundbreaking film. We’re thrilled to have been a part of this very special night.
